CHATEAU DE PLASSAC

Chateau de Plassac

The Dampierre family is one of the oldest families in France. For eight generations, their fate has been closely linked to the Charentes region and the Château de Plassac, where they produce a rare cognac and a fruity Pineau des Charentes.

The introduction of the Dampierre family into the region and its relationship with the production of Cognac began with Marquis Elie de Dampierre in his book “Eaux-de-vie de Cognac” in 1858 strongly promoted the Cognac region.

The special feature of the wines and the spirits from the Château de Plassac is the complete integration of the production process within the 400 years old wall around the land.

The vines of the Ugni Blanc and the Colombard grow in an encircled vineyard in the heart of the Château’s park. There are slightly higher temperatures than anywhere else, which sublimes the taste and intensifies the aromas.

The winemaking as well as the distillation took place in the 17th century “Grand Chai”.
The cognacs are aging in oak barrels stamped with family crests, in which they get their golden hue and the wood aromas. The barrels are stored in a magnificently restored vaulted chai.

Count Audoin and Henri de Dampierre, together with their faithful team, set out to work out and harmonize these harmonious spirits with great passion. These belong more than ever to the category of large cognacs.
